Your Goals and-”Your Why”

Don’t ever let anyone fool you, running a business based from home is hard work. It takes dedication and long hours. You have to be a jack of all trades. If your not, then you will need help in the areas you are not familiar with. That is why you join a team that offers lots of training. We have a lot of online training here

You also need a reason to put in all those hours…some sort of a goal. I simply wish to get healthier and help other people do the same. I certainly have financial goals too, but they are secondary to good health. Without that you have nothing. Think about it. What good will all the material possessions do you if you are physically disabled somehow?

Ok, on to material possessions. We all have things we would like to have. A better car or truck..or maybe a HDTV. Who knows..you name it for yourself. In a previous training I was taught to create a dream board. You take a piece of poster board and glue or tape pictures of goals you would like to reach. A few examples from mine is a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and a Hemi Drag car. These are two of my motivators. What turns your trigger?

I have this placed where I spend most of my time in my home office. It is tacked on my wall just to the right of my computer screen so that my goals are always in front of me. It really helps and is an excellent motivator. I also have a picture of myself in my football days when I was in the best shape of my life. Another motivator.

So, get that poster board and get your pics and goals on it. Post it where you will see it every day and see if it will help you in your personal motivation. I am betting it will.

My journey began almost a year ago now. I have been just about chronically sick for the last 5 years. I would most always get a sinus infection that seemed to last weeks and it usually migrated to my chest for classic bronchitis.

I would be sick for weeks. 2 or 3 trips to the Doctor for one illness period were not uncommon. I would just get over my cold and a few week later I would start all over again. I was not getting anything done at home and was having a rough time at work.

Last November I went to hunting camp with a sinus infection. By the end of the 1st day, I was so sick I could not hunt. I was too sick to even be the camp cook. I held out hoping I would get better so I could hunt. Nothing doing. This was the last straw for me. I vowed I would find out what was making me so sick.

I sufferred through the winter, but had an appointment with an ear, nose and throat specialist. It was discovered that I had a deviated septum. Some of the Doctors questions rattled me. I was asked if I had difficulty sleeping. Sure do, but I figured it was because I was sick most of the time. A sleep study was ordered along with a CT scan of my sinuses.

One sinus cavity was completely blocked hense the answer to my problems. Or so I thought. Next up was a sleep study. This was not something I wanted to do at all, but I was determined to get healthy, once and for all. I reported to the hospital and was shocked at the amount of wiring that was attached to my head and body.

How is a person supposed to sleep with all this attached to him?
I did sleep fitfully, but completed the test. Sleep apnea was confirmed. Not what I wanted to hear. At all.

11. Setup an RSS feed so you can deliver your marketing messages without needing email address. If you need to become familiar with RSS, first get an RSS reader and find a site with an RSS feed to subscribe to. Google has a free rss reader.

12. Setup a Contact Form on your home page to collect visitors name and email address. Set the form to post the information to your Autoresponder or at least a database on your site.

13. Setup a link page for exchanging relevant links to other websites to improve in bound links.

14. You can join traffic exchanges to get some free traffic.

15. Install (follow instructions) an Autoresponder on your webserver so you can use it to automate your email follow up tasks. An easier way is to use an autoresponder service. 18. Setup a FAQ (frequently asked questions) page to post those questions that you are often asked and your person answer to each question.

I was looking for a quick article to start this web site off. I wrote this last year. It really captures why I (and many people I work with) work on a home-based business. Check it out.

Why Do We Do it? Home Based Business

So, why do we put in all the extra hours working to build our home based business? I will give you a great example of why I do it.

This weekend my wife and I traveled to our cabin in the northern woods of Michigan. The cabin started out as a hunting spot in the 50′s Over the years we have made improvements, but we really stepped it up the last 10 years. Now we have a cabin that is family friendly too. It is an awesome spot to vacation. Nice and quiet. We are 5 miles from town. So far out that there are no power lines. We do have a generator now and the place is wired for more modern convenience.

This trip we had 16 close family members at the cabin. We cooked over a campfire. We fought off the mosquitoes but had a great time sitting around the campfire and catching up on each others lives. There were 4 generations of my wife’s family there.

There are several reasons this is relevant to a home business. Having the time to do this trip is most always a desire of someone starting a home business. Time freedom.

Money. Not necessarily money, but the things that money allows you to do. Without the extra money, we would not have modified the cabin to make it a family friendly retreat. It takes money to make a trip like this and the costs are rinsing rapidly. To keep up this tradition, extra income will be needed.

The memories we generated this weekend are priceless.
